“Unite for Education Campaign”

Posted - 2022-04-11

United Way Ghana believes that every child acquires quality and accessible education. That is why for the past 17 years, the organization has been working tirelessly in underserved communities and schools to promote interactive learning.

The organization wants to reach more people and engage them in this impactful initiative. The current study indicates that In Ghana, Only 7% of children in Grade 3 have the expected reading skills for that grade (Ghana Education Fact Sheets 2020 - UNICEF data). The findings also show that 79% which translates to 4,288,500 learners between the ages of 7- and 14  do not have foundational skills in reading. Reading forms the basis of all subjects Hence, United Way has come up with an impactful initiative “Unite for Education campaign”

The “Unite for Education” Campaign is an initiative United Way Ghana is championing to promote and increase access to quality education in Ghana, especially in underserved communities.  This aligns with United Way Ghana's Improving Basic Education (IBE) Program which contributes toward achieving the UN's SDG4 and Ghana's development agenda of reducing social exclusion and all forms of social inequalities.

The objective is to bring together the staff of corporate organizations and individuals to channel their volunteer hours toward identifying key issues affecting education in underserved communities in Ghana.

The campaign is set to run through the entire year
