United Way Ghana and Vivo Energy donates Renewable Energy Equipment to La Emmaus Cluster of Schools

In September, United Way Ghana donated renewable energy equipment which included solar panels, inverter, solar charger controller, etc. to La Emmaus Cluster of Schools. United Way and Vivo Energy had earlier launched the Green4Clean Project within the Cluster of Schools which include La Enobal Basic School, La Presby Primary A and La Presby Primary B Schools, and established the environmental clubs to continually engage the students on renewable energy.

The donation of these renewable energy equipment to the schools was made possible by Vivo Energy Ghana, as part of efforts to sustain the existing clubs and build on the effort of stakeholders to provide training on renewable energy within the schools. The presentation of these equipment was made on behalf of United Way Ghana and Vivo Energy by our Project Lead (Education), Kwame Benson.

United Way Ghana facilitates Standard Chartered Bank PLC Employee Volunteering Week

In September, the United Way Ghana facilitated the Standard Chartered Bank PLC Employee Volunteer week by organizing activities for staff of the bank to volunteer their time to give back to their community. The Employee Volunteer Week involved financial literacy and mentoring sessions with Junior High School students of Nima Cluster of School, Nii Amugi Cluster of Schools, and St Morris School. The staff volunteers also engaged students from the University of Professional Studies Accra, providing financial literacy, speed mentoring, and career development training for the students.

The staff volunteers also engaged students of Kanda Cluster of Schools in some environmental sustainability activities, working with them to upcycle waste materials that is often littering their environment. It was also an opportunity for the staff to engage the students in some climate action topics, as we work to protect our environment by promoting renewable energy use.

During this Volunteer Week, staff of Standard Chartered Bank PLC also visited the Nungua New Life Children Home to donate to the orphanage and engage the children in fun activities, as well as carry out some speed mentoring session for the children to nurture their dreams and goals. The visit to the orphanage was a heartwarming moment as the staff were treated to beautiful choreography dances, modelling, and singing and dancing sessions.
